Gravitational Wave Astronomy is a completely new kind of astronomy. The first detection of a gravitational wave on 14 September 2015 has opened a new window on the Universe, a new way of perceiving our cosmos. Gravitational waves are like a new sense. If existing astronomy is like seeing, gravitational wave astronomy is like hearing. Gravitational wave detectors are extremely sensitive "laser ears" and can "listen" to the ends of the universe and into places normal astronomy cannot see.
